Mechanism of Action:

A type II anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody that has been glycoengineered, obinutuzumab attaches itself to the CD20 antigen on the surface of B cells. In addition to triggering immunological processes including complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), this interaction causes direct cell death by apoptosis. It is efficient in targeting cancerous B cells while reducing effects on good immune function because these actions result in the depletion of both malignant and normal B cells while preserving stem cells and plasma cells.
