Mechanism of Action:
Netupitant and Palonosetron work together to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) by targeting different phases of the condition. Netupitant lessens the effects of substance P, a major contributor to the delayed phase of CINV, by blocking NK1 receptors in the central nervous system. In the meanwhile, palonosetron successfully stops the acute phase of CINV by blocking 5-HT3 receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal system. Comprehensive protection against chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting is offered by this dual mechanism.
