Teicoplanin functions by preventing the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. By attaching itself to the peptidoglycan of the bacterial cell wall's D-alanyl-D-alanine residues, it stops cross-linking and kills the bacterium. When it comes to Gram-positive bacteria, this method works especially well.

Pregnancy

Use Teicoplanin during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under medical supervision, as its safety during pregnancy is not fully established.  Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.

Breast Feeding

Caution is advised during breastfeeding since the drug can pass into breast milk. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.
