Mechanism of Action:

Acalabrutinib is a BTK (Bruton's tyrosine kinase) selective inhibitor. It slows the development of cancer cells by blocking BTK, which prevents malignant B-cells from surviving and proliferating.

Uses:

• Chronic lymphocytic leukemia
• Small lymphocytic lymphoma
• Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Side effets:

·         Headache

·         Diarrhea

·         Fatigue

·         Nausea

·         Bruising

·         Increased risk of bleeding

·         Infections (due to immunosuppression)

·         Heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias)

Dosage and Administration:

The same time each day, capsules should be taken with water, food, or none. For CLL/SLL, a typical dose is 100 mg administered twice a day. The usual suggested dosage for MCL is 100 mg given twice day or as directed by a medical professional.

Safety advices:

Liver  

Using 100 mg of Acaya in some patients have an increase in their liver enzymes (AST, ALT) as a result of using capsules.

Pregnancy

How to use this medication?

Unless instructed otherwise by your care team, do not stop taking it or alter your dosage. This drug should not be taken with grapefruit juice. After taking this drug for two hours, avoid consuming antacids and H2-blockers.
