Mechanism of Action:

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptors are the specific targets of nintedanib's inhibition of tyrosine kinase receptors. Signaling mechanisms that lead to aberrant blood vessel development and cell proliferation are disrupted by this activity. Nintedanib efficiently blocks fibrosis pathways by decreasing fibroblast activation and proliferation, which slows lung scarring in diseases such idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
