Composition: Ceftazidime and Avibactam


Mechanism of Action:

Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that causes bacterial cell death by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls whereas Avibactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that increases the antibiotic's effectiveness against resistant strains by shielding ceftazidime from being broken down by beta-lactamase enzymes generated by resistant bacteria.

  • Pneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Intra abdominal infection

Dosage and Administration:

Administered intravenously, Dosage varies based on the type and severity of the infection, renal function, and patient age. It is usually given every 8 hours.

Breast Feeding  

Caution is advised during breastfeeding since the drug can pass into breast milk. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.


Storage:

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight. Store the vials at room temperature before reconstitution. Once reconstituted, the solution should be used within a specific time frame as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure stability and effectiveness.


How to use this medication?

This medication is administered through an injection into a vein, usually by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic.
