Brand Name: Emzumab

Composition: Omalizumab

Mechanism of Action:

The way omalizumab functions is by attaching itself to IgE, a crucial antibody in allergic reactions. Omalizumab binds to IgE and stops it from binding to its receptors on basophils and mast cells. This stops the release of histamine and other allergic mediators, which lead to bronchoconstriction, inflammation, and other allergic symptoms. This results in less bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation in asthma. It helps manage itching and hives in chronic urticaria.

Uses:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic Hives

Dosage and Administration:

Emzumab 150mg Injection is administered subcutaneously (under the skin), typically in the upper arm, thigh, or abdomen. The patient's body weight and IgE level determine the typical dosage. It is usually administered every two to four weeks.
