Fondared 2.5mg Injection is an anticoagulant medication that contains Fondaparinux, a synthetic pentasaccharide.

Mechanism of Action:

Fondaparinux functions by blocking the production of Factor Xa, a protein that contributes to the formation of blood clots. It increases its ability to inactivate Factor Xa by attaching itself to antithrombin III. This mode of action stops prothrombin from being converted to thrombin, which is an essential step in the formation of blood clots. By taking this measure, existing clots are prevented from spreading and new clots are prevented from forming.

• Deep vein thrombosis
• Pulmonary embolism

Dosage and Administration:

The injection is administered subcutaneously (under the skin), typically in the lower abdominal area. Depending on the clinical situation, it can also be administered intravenously. The patient's weight, age, and condition all affect the dosage. Typically, it is given once day.

Storage:

How to use this Medication?

Usually administered 6 to 8 hours following surgery, fondaparinux injections are administered subcutaneously once day for 5 to 9 days or up to a month. Carefully follow your doctor's directions and use it daily at the same time.

There is enough medicine in each syringe to last one shot. Never use the needle and syringe more than once. You will receive instructions on how to properly dispose of used needles and syringes from your physician, pharmacist, or other healthcare practitioner.
