Romy 125mcg Injection containing Romiplostim, is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist used primarily to treat thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) in adults with chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy.

Mechanism of Action:

Romiplostim is an agonist of the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor that promotes platelet formation. By binding to bone marrow cells' (megakaryocytes') TPO receptors, it increases platelet synthesis and aids in the treatment of disorders linked to low platelet counts.

Uses:

Chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura

Dosage and Administration:

Usually administered once weekly as a subcutaneous injection at a dose of 1 mcg/kg, with modifications made in response to platelet response. To keep platelet counts within a safe range, dose modifications are implemented.

How to use this medication?

Romiplostim injection is a powder that a doctor or nurse can mix with liquid and administer subcutaneously, or beneath the skin, in a medical office. Usually, it is administered once every seven days.

Not everyone responds to romiplostim injection. Your doctor will cease administering romiplostim injections if your platelet count does not rise sufficiently after a period of time. To determine why the romiplostim injection did not work for you, your doctor might also prescribe blood tests.
